Declan Byrne - Celtic Cocktails

Declan Byrne has represented IRELAND at several major International Cocktail Competitions.

His cocktail was voted the best tasting 'Fancy Drink' at the ‘BM Grand Prix’ in Malaga, Spain 1996. More recently, in 2005 he was placed 5th out of a high calibre field of more than 30 World Class professional bartenders at the ‘Best Italian Cocktail Award’ in Turin, Italy. He represented IRELAND at the International Mattoni Grand-Drink Cocktail competition held in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic 2006.

He regularly works with top brands in Ireland demonstrating and promoting their products. He is a well known bartender and enthusiast of high quality cocktails and an avid promoter of the bartenders that create them. Declan has been a judge for several International Cocktail competitions - including the ‘World Cocktail Competition’ (WCC) in Las Vegas 2004, Helsinki 2005, Greece 2006 also the ‘1st European Union Cocktail Festival’ held in Portugal 2004 and the Mattoni Grand-Drink Cocktail competition in Berlin 2005.

Declan has demonstrated his talent and personality to the general public on both TV and radio and has written articles for several industry magazines in Ireland.

He was President of the Bartenders Association of Ireland (BAI) from 2002-2006. He has held various positions within the association including Local Education Officer (Dublin), Editor of the association’s magazine – 'Basil'.

The Bartenders Association of Ireland is the official representative of the International Bartenders Association in Ireland. He is the manager of the Regent Club (members only) in Dublin 4 and has being in the bar business since 1988. He also created and maintains the BAI website www.bartender.ie .
